Character Name: Craig Tucker.
Series: South Park.
Timeline: Halfway through Season 16.
Canon Resource Link: Craig Tucker
Character Background:
Much like the majority of the residents in his Hometown it’s assumed Craig has lived in the small and miserable Middle-America town called South Park for his entire life. From the shows point of view Craig Tucker is not one of the main characters, but (especially in later seasons) he definitely has a significant presence. Usually he stands in the role of challenging the four main boys and being a pain in their collective butts like in Quest For Ratings, Craig creates a rival T.V. show of "animals close up with a wide angle lense" and later "animals close up with a wide angle lense wearing hat" that get better ratings -- or when he's not doing that he's (commonly to his dismay) going along with whatever horrible adventure they are involved in that day (bitching about it all the way).
Although by this point Craig has had a lot of interaction with the boys it is hard to determine whether he’s shifted into the casual friend territory or if Craig is holding his ground as a frienemy of theirs. Often enough he can be seen sitting with Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny and whoever else at lunch or in an assembly but it’s been left unexplained what that implies about the relationships Tucker has formed with them. In the very least he is on good enough terms with them to have attended Stan's 10th birthday (Episode: You're Getting Old).
In a number of scenarios Craig is seen to be the delinquent or trouble maker, as is the case in the episode Tweek vs. Craig, where he is set up to fight Tweek to see who is the most problematic kid in the class. His favored thing is to flip people off and the gesture is second nature for the fourth grader: even when there is no valid reason for him to be using it.
Even though Craig is a secondary character it’s not uncommon to see him take a leading role (like in episodes South Park is Gay, Good Time with Weapons, Hooked on Monkey Phonics, etc.) where he intends to beat someone up or bully them needlessly. It would seem that despite his teaming up with other kids regularly leading to violence Craig is somehow always able to convince someone to do things like duct tape the new kid to the bench or beat up Kyle Broflovski for being too "butch".
Some kids other than the main four that Craig is seen often with are Token Black and Clyde Donovan, Jimmy Valmer, Jason [no last name], and Tweek Tweak. Many people have labelled this grouping lovingly as “Craig and those guys” when any or all of them are in one scene together. Although these approx. six guys are associated it seems like Craig is most often seen with either Clyde, whom many suspect is his best bro, or Token.
He has rampant bullying tendencies but on the other hand Craig also has some sort of badass worship going on. A few times this has convinced Craig to make a full 180 turn on his opinion of someone, as was the case when Mark Cotswolds beats the crap out of Kyle, or when he gets starry-eyed at first sight like with Thomas who suffers from Tourette's Syndrome in Le Petit Tourette. Because Craig sees Thomas swear without consequence he asks him if they could hang out and if Craig can maybe do his laundry for him.
Craig has both parents, his mother and father, in addition to a little sister; But if you asked Craig he'd also count his pet guinea pig into his family as well. Place the kid beside any of his family members and you could easily see the resemblance, especially the with the tendency to give the middle finger - which they all do so casually over the dinner table. Although his mother has blond hair and his father has red hair Craig has dark black hair, which would raise suspicion if not for that to being common with a handful of other South Park characters and their parents as well. Also notable is Craig perceived height as his parents are depicted as slightly taller than most other adults in South Park, so it is logical to assume that even if he isn't now Craig is going to grow to be on the taller end of the height spectrum.
Considering some of the scarring and messed up situations Craig gets involved in he typically reacts in a very underplayed and casual way. Although given after these quiet reactions usually follows snark and bitching. This behaviour is perhaps best demonstrated in Pandemic when Craig is sent to Peru to bring down the government and he is stranded with four kids he doesn't even like AND the situation continues to get worse. His initial reaction is to all this is to say in an incredibly sarcastic tone "Oh, awesome". Hilariously later on in the episode when he is found in an Incan prophecy his reaction is to just walk away. In this way Craig plays a foil the main four boys as typically they have the opposite reaction and head right into whatever trouble plagues them that day.
Abilities/Special Powers: Other than the one time Craig was forced to defeat an oversized and evil guinea pig pirate via lasers shooting out of his eyes (very much against his will) Craig does not have any spectacular or even out of the ordinary traits.
Aside from being very uncouth, being partial to flipping anyone and everyone off for no reason, and being the resident wet blanket: Craig is a normal ten year old boy from Middle America.
Third-Person Sample:
Believe it or not but summer wasn’t his favorite season. Not because it was particularly hot in Colorado in the summer months or anything. It was because if you gave it a good solid ten minutes the weather was just as likely to change as Cartman was likely to spew out a Jew joke. That is to say, it was a common occurrence.
When Craig Tucker was woken up early on July the 4th morning by the sun shining unapologetically through his bedroom window and the goddamn birds taken it upon themselves to be as cheerful sounding as they could muster. Craig Tucker really wasn't in the mood for it.
Out of spite for the depressingly happy morning or just because he did it every day anyways Craig flipped the world off before pulling the bed's covers over his head. This wouldn't be the first time he would be late for class.
It hadn't been until the fourth grader could hear impatient shuffling and small protests that he poked his usually hat adorned head back out from underneath the covers. With a small sigh Craig rolled out of bed and stumbled over to the previously ignored cage in the corner of his room. Behind the bars sniffed a very much awake and expectant guinea pig. Despite the crappy start to the morning a small grin curled upwards o Craig outstretched his hand to the bottom of the cage.
"Hey dude. Come here."
At the simple request Stripe climbed up onto his owner's hand with a happy sounding 'chirrup'.
With noble companion obtained the fourth grader then slumped forward to retrieve his abandoned headwear. After having shifted Stripe securely into one hand Craig yanked the blue chullo over his untameable bed hair. With a small sigh and not much more than a uncaring glance at himself in the mirror Craig dragged his socked feet across the carpeted floor in the direction of the until recently forgotten window.
The clear pane of glass revealed a shift in the weather that had no right to happen in anyplace when it was July the 4th. Slowly, as if to mock the pre-teen, wet looking and unpleasent flakes of snow floated down from the sky.
In response Craig Tucker displayed his middle finger to the outside. Today he was going to need to wear his coat.
Screw you too, South Park.
First-Person Sample:
[ When he was kidnapped and sent to Peru at least Craig had known where it was he was going to end up. ]
...Awesome.
[ Calmly, or in what appears to be a calm manner, the fourth grader turns on the device he has just found. Despite being entirely lost and confused the kid still manages to glare into the feed as if it had just shot his puppy in front of him. ]
Which one of you assholes thought pulling this one on me would be funny?
[ Craig Tucker had flipped the bird as an afterthought. Following shortly after he shut the feed off with disgruntled motion. ]
